Position overview
As a Senior Java Developer, you will design and maintain resilient backend services, modernize established Java applications, and contribute to a pragmatic polyglot stack that also includes Node.js and TypeScript.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain high-performance Java services and APIs.
- Help establish engineering standards across languages and services.
- Translate product requirements into scalable technical designs and estimates.
- Contribute to architecture decisions for reliable, observable distributed systems.
- Package and operate containerized workloads using Docker and cloud orchestration.
- Improve performance, test coverage, deployment safety, and maintainability.
- Review code and mentor engineers across the team.
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional Java development experience.
- Strong Java 8+ knowledge and experience modernizing older applications.
- Production experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and multithreaded systems.
- Comfort with Docker, Kubernetes or ECS, relational databases, SQL, caches, and queues.
- Experience working in collaborative Agile product teams.
- Clear communication and strong problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- AWS experience across services such as ECS, EC2, S3, and RDS.
- Node.js or TypeScript knowledge.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and observability tooling.
- Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL systems.
