Position overview
We are looking for a senior backend engineer to design scalable microservices with Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and PostgreSQL. You will own features from technical design through production and help other engineers raise the quality bar.
Responsibilities
- Build modular, low-latency NestJS services for high-throughput use cases.
- Create unit and integration test suites that prevent regressions.
- Model PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and manage safe migrations.
- Design REST and GraphQL APIs with product and frontend engineers.
- Write technical proposals, estimate work, and break initiatives into deliverable stories.
- Lead code reviews, share best practices, and mentor teammates.
- Own features through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Production experience with NestJS or a comparable application framework.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills covering schema design, indexing, query tuning, and migrations.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and documenting them with OpenAPI.
- Hands-on testing, Docker, CI/CD, and Agile delivery experience.
- Clear written and verbal communication in a distributed team.
- Working-hour overlap with a primarily European team.
Nice to have
- GraphQL schema design and event-driven systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- AWS, GCP, or Azure experience and infrastructure-as-code knowledge.
- Monitoring and observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
- Java knowledge or previous technical leadership experience.
